On April 19, 2019, a meeting of Grigol Mukhadze Surgeons Association was organized at Tbilisi State Medical University. The meeting was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Professor Besik Iashvili and the development of combustiology in Georgia. The name of Prof. Iashvili is closely related to the establishment of combustiology and Restorative Plastic Surgery in Georgia.

Prof. Iashvili was the member of the Academy of Medico-Biological Sciences, Georgian Medical Military Academy, the Academy of Medical Social Sciences as well as a member of Problem Committee at A.V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery. Besik Iashvili is the author of 115 scientific works, monographs. Under his supervision 8 Ph.D these were defended. In 2015 Besik Iashvili was awarded the title of honorary citizen of Tbilisi.  The ceremony was opened by Professor Gia Tomadze, Head of Grigol Mukhadze Association of Surgeons. Prof. Tomadze congratulated Prof. Iashvili and awarded him Grigol Mukhadze Medal of Honor. Professor Zurab Orjonikidze, Chancellor of Tbilisi State Medical University, presented a certificate of merit to Prof. Iashvili for the special contribution made in Medicine.

The presentations on various themes were made at the meeting.  Guga Kashibadze presented topic:  “Professor Besik Iashvili and development of combustiology in Georgia”; Gia Kvinikadze - "Modern Aspects of Critical Burning Treatment" and Lika Geguchadze - “Demonstration of Interesting Case”, respectively. The event was ended by a documentary film dedicated to the life and work of Professor Besik Iashvili.
