On October 7, 2018, within the frames of the "Pink October" campaign the event - "Georgia Marathon to Save Lives" was organized and held by Women’s Wellness Alliance HERA at the territory of Turtle Lake (KUS TBA) with active participation of Tbilisi State Medical University.

In the Marathon participated: Vice-Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University, Associate Professor Irakli Kokhreidze; TSMU students of different faculties and Administration staff.  In Marathon Race, Gigi Makatsaria, I Semester student of TSMU Faculty of Public Health, won the first place in the category of boys.

"Tbilisi State Medical University traditionally joins the planned actions. We support ladies who are fighting against and who have defeated this dread disease" - said the Vice Rector. 

The main goal of the event is to increase the awareness of breast cancer risk, dissemination of information on necessity of regular self-examination  and cancer screening.  

To support the "Pink October" campaign, organization of several educational events have been planned at Tbilisi State Medical University. October - the Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) is called “Pink October” and the pink ribbon is considered as an important part of this campaign.
