Training of Paramedic Course Students at TSMU University Clinics

On August 2, 2018, Mr. Avtandil Talakvadze, Director of LEPL- Emergency Situations Coordination and Urgent Assistance Center of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of Tbilisi State Medical University signed the Memorandum of Cooperation.  The event was attended by: Prof. Khatuna Todadze, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs; Prof. Rima Beriashvili, Vice-Rector for Research, Associate Professor Irakli Kokhreidze, Vice-Rector for Clinical Affairs; Prof. Zurab Orjonikidze Head of the Administration (Chancellor); Irina Kapetivadze Head of the TSMU Rector's Office; Tamar Stepanishvili Head of Public Relations and Protocol Service; Professor Levan Ratiani Director General of TSMU First University Clinic, and Professor Lia Dzidziguri, Director of TSMU Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic.

The Memorandum signing ceremony was also attended by: David Torua, Deputy Director of Emergency Situations Coordination and Urgent Assistance Center and Amiran Gogitidze, Head of Department of Planning Quality and Call Management Department.

Within the frames of the Memorandum, the students of Paramedical course - Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine at Emergency Situations Coordination and Urgent Assistance Center will be trained at the TSMU University Clinics, namely Emergency Departments of TSMU First University Clinic and TSMU Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic. The course trainees will be the graduates from the medical education institutions accredited in Georgia.

The practical part of the course incudes: two 24-hour turn of duty at the Departments of Emergency of Givi Zhvania Pediatric Academic Clinic and TSMU First University Clinic. After completion of the curriculum, trainees will fill out special assessment forms and submit to the center.

At the meeting Mr. Avtandil Talakvadze expressed his thankfulness to the representatives of TSMU for active cooperation and talked about the future plans.

According to Professor Zurab Vadachkoria, Rector of TSMU, together with LEPL- Emergency Situations Coordination and Urgent Assistance Center of the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia, Tbilisi State Medical University is going to implement many interesting joint projects. The mentioned project is important for both Tbilisi State Medical University and Emergency Situations Coordination and Urgent Assistance Center and the most important for the Georgian medical education system and healthcare system as a whole.
